Piermarco Aroldi, Fausto Colombo

Piermarco Aroldi, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes at Università Cattolica of Milan and Piacenza, where he teaches Media and social processes; he is vice-director.of OssCom, Osservatorio sulla Comunicazione, research centre focusing on Media Studies. His research interests are about the temporal dimension of media, Tv consumption in the everyday life and in a generational perspective, Media and children. Fausto Colombo is Professor of Mass Communications Theories and New Media and Digital Communication at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. He is Director of Osservatorio sulla Comunicazione, a media research center based at the Università Cattolica of Milano. He is member of the Scientific committee of Triennale di Milano, a foundation about design, fashion and audio-visual communication. He has published several books and essays; between his latest publications: Il prodotto culturale. Teorie, tecniche di analisi, case histories (Carocci, Roma 2001), edited with R. Enrique Banús

Enrique Banús has studied Comparative Literature, Romance and German Philology in Bonn and Aachen. His Ph.D. thesis is dealing with Johann Gottfried Herder's relevance for the development of a comparative mentality. From the Imagology he has evolved to the European Studies, where he researches mainly on culture and identity issues. He is Director of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Navarra and Jean Monnet Chair ad personam "European Culture". Dr. Marianna Papastephanou

Dr Marianna Papastephanou has studied and researched in Cardiff, Wales and Berlin, Germany and taught at Cardiff University. She is currently teaching at the University of Cyprus, Dept. of Education, as an Assis-tant Professor in Philosophy of Education. She is the editor of K.O. Apel: From A Transcendental-Semiotic Point of View (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 1998) and author of numerous articles on the Frankfurt school, political philosophy, postmodernism, and education from a continental-philosophical point of view. Stavroula Philippou

Stavroula Philippou is currently an Assistant Professor in Curriculum Studies at the Department of Education Sciences at Cyprus College, Cyprus. She has worked in a range of educational contexts, including primary schools in Cyprus. Her postgraduate studies include an M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies (University of Sydney, Australia, 1999) and a Ph.D. in Education (University of Cambridge, U.K., 2004). Her doctoral dissertation explored how the concept of 'Europe' could shift ethnocentric discourses in history and geography curricula as well as in children's constructions of identity and citizenship. Her research interests include Curriculum and Textbook Development and Design, Teaching Methodology, European Union and Council of Europe Educational Policies, Curriculum Studies, Children's National and European identities, Citizenship Education. Luisa Ribolzi

Luisa Ribolzi is professor in Sociology of Education at the Faculty of educational Science, University of Genova (Italy): she co-ordinates the research group of Italian Sociologists of education, and for them she has edited a digest of papers (Formare gli insegnanti. Lineamenti di Sociologia dell'Educazione, 2002). Her scientific interests are mainly on institutional aspects of education, as organisational models, teachers, and assessment (Il sistema ingessato. Autonomia, scelta e qualità nella scuola italiana, 2000 II; La valutazione nella scuola dell'autonomia, 2001): she is member of the scientific board of Fondazione per la scuola della Compagnia di San Paolo. She is working on transition from education to job, as a consultant for the Italian Entrepreneurs Association, ISFOL, Unioncamere - as president of the Progetto Excelsior scientific committee - researching on career guidance, stages, competencies and industries' educational needs. Charo Sádaba

Dr. Charo Sádaba is an Associate Professor of Interactive Marketing and Head of the Media Management Department at the School of Communication of the University of Navarra (Spain). She coordinates the Advertising and Public Relations Degree at this School. She lectures Interactive Marketing and New Advertising Media for undergraduate students and New Media in the MSc in Corporate Communications at the University of Navarra. She acted as Vice-Chair for the A20 COST Action, a European research network on the Impact of the Internet on the mass media. Javier Vergara Ciordia

Javier Vergara Ciordia is Doctor of Philosophy and Educational Sciences (Pedagogy) con-ferred by the University of Navarra in 1986. He won the prize for academic excellence within his doctorate. He is currently senior lectrer in History of Education (Ancient, Middle and Mod-ern) at the Spanish National Open University (Distance Learning). His work has concentrated on medieval and modern culture. He has publilshed eight books as author and co-author and over seventy works between chapters of books, magazine articles and acts of congress.
